We will fill your requests as quickly as possible. If the materials are available, most requests will be ready within 1-2 business days.

How will I know when my request is ready?

A staff member will contact you.

How long will you hold my items?

Once you are notified by a staff member that your items are ready, they will remain on the hold shelf until 4 p.m. the following day.

What items, and how many of them, can I check out?

Library cardholders can check out books, DVDs, CDs and magazines. You can check out as many as five items, two of which can be DVDs. Also, the library also offers mobile printing. Those print jobs must be picked up using our Curbside Service.

Do you offer the Curbside Pickup Service at both library locations?

Beginning Dec. 15, 2020, the Curbside Pickup Service will be offered at both locations: Tuesday through Saturday at Main Library and Tuesday at Richmond Branch Library.

Do you have parking for those picking up or returning materials?

The 15-minute parking area located next to the Main Library is reserved for those using our Curbside Pickup Service or returning items to the book drop. Also, we validate up to two hours of parking for library patrons who park at the New York Avenue Garage. Be sure to bring your ticket stub so we can validate it for you. We don't have reserved parking at the Richmond Branch Library.

Do I need a library card to use this service?

Yes. Library cards are free to Atlantic City and Atlantic County residents.

What if I have mobility issues and cannot leave my vehicle?

Call the Main Library at (609) 345-6115 or Richmond Branch Library at (609) 340-0215 when you arrive and we will place your bag within reach.

• We are committed to ensuring that our programs and services are accessible to everyone. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding accessibility please call (609) 345-6115 or email reflib(at) so we may work to accommodate you.

How are you protecting the safety of patrons and staff?

The contactless Curbside Pickup Service provides maximum social distancing for the safety of both patrons and staff. Staff will wear gloves and masks when handling all library materials. Also, library print materials are quarantined for four days, while CDs and DVDs are quarantined for one. The day after being quarantined, book covers and flaps are wiped with disinfecting wipes, as are CD/DVD cases and the discs inside them.

Who is eligible for this service?

This privilege is reserved for Atlantic City Library members who comply with our safety guidelines. We reserve the right to remove access to this service from anyone who does not respect those.

What if I want to borrow materials but can't make it to the library?

Our library members can download eBooks, audiobooks, movies, music and television shows through hoopla, Overdrive and Axis360. To get started, visit the hoopla and Overdrive websites or download the apps on your smartphone.
