NJ Makers Day

NJ Makers Day is a statewide single-day event that promotes the values associated with making, tinkering, and STEM-based learning. ACFPL will be celebrating with a Maker Faire, an all day event with interactive exhibits, crafts, collaborative community projects, and more.

NJMakers Day 2018

The Atlantic City Free Public Library will serve as a host site for the fourth annual New Jersey Makers Day on Saturday, March 10. The library will give children, teens and their families an opportunity to participate in maker-related activities and collaborative projects from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Main Library’s Teen Makerspace and meeting room, both located on the second floor.

Green Screen Photo Booth (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

Participants will be photographed in front of the green screen and choose which background they want behind them.

Demonstration Tables (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

Learn about the technology and tools that are available in the Makerspace, including: 3D printer,  performing and producing Music with Ableton Live + Push Touchpad, sewing machine, t-shirt design with the silhouette cutter, button maker, STEM learning toys for kids, and knitting and crocheting.

STEM Craft Time with Oceanside Family Success Center (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.)

Make and take home craft.

STEM Storytime and Craft (2 p.m.)

“Rosie Revere, Engineer” – Hear the story of a young girl named Rosie Revere, who is a brilliant inventor of gizmos and gadgets followed by craft.

STEM Science Project

with Rutgers Extension Volunteer, Kendrin Dyitt.(2-4 pm) –Recycling project.

 

Since the Atlantic City Library Makerspace opened in April 2014, local teens have been invited to “Make AC: Dream It, Design It, Do It.” The Makerspace — located in the Teen Space — features a variety of technology and tools, including a 3-D printer, digital audio recording, photography and video equipment, robotics, sewing machine and fiber arts, and more. NJ Makers Day is a statewide event that celebrates and promotes maker culture, as well as the values associated with making, tinkering and STEM-based learning.
